China Squares was of course invented simultaneously with China Octangle. It is to that game what China Groves is to China Tangle, an icy twin. China Squares is a cold game, meaning that mandatory placement in the endgame may get you in a position where you are forced to create new groups and collect the penalty points they bring to the score.
